Celebrating a New Culture : Apprenticeship to Placement
LA GRANDEE has always focussed on student centric learning and practices. As such, Apprenticeship program was initiated since December 2018. Students of BCA 7th semester by then were enrolled into apprenticeship program offered by Seva Development. Seva Development is an IT company whose objective is to provide high quality high paying jobs to Nepali graduates and economic development for their villages by providing economical, best-in-class software testing services to companies in the United States. It has its offices in Kathmandu, Pokhara and Besisahar-Lamjung.
The intern students are now currently studying in 8th semester and have completed their apprenticeship. As per the previous MOU with Seva Development and observing the skills of students, Pradip Dhakal, Pradeep Poudel and Arjun Subedi have been offered job by Seva Development Ltd on August 29, 2019. A job offer letter along with laptop was handed to each of them by Pawan Krishna Shrestha, the Regional Manager, Engineering department. Other mentors during apprenticeship, Er. Ishwor, Mr. Udbodh and Er. Shreedhar Acharya, along with college chairman Dev Raj Chalise and many other students from BCA 2nd, 4th and 6th semester witnessed the celebration. Pradeep Poudel on behalf of all the recruited students, shared his experience and happiness to have the opportunity. The regional manager shared his views on the concept and its achievement while Principal, Er. Kiran K.C. delivered his experience, the cause for initiation of the concept and further expressed his happines for the successful implementation of the concept. The program was hosted by Academic Dean Dr. Krishna Raj Bhandari.
The apprenticeship program is an effort to bridge the gap between Academia and Professional Organizations fulfilling each others need. It shall be milestone in initiating a culture. It was a pilot concept and now the college management is more excited to implement the model to more students and to other streams as well.
