Welcome Program to 2017 Batch Students

LA GRANDEE International College organized the annual Welcome Program to BCA, BBA and BPH 2017 Batch students on Friday, January 19, 2018, at City Square Banquet, New Road, Pokhara.

 The program began formally with the chairing of Kiran K. C., Principal of the College. It was followed by the welcome speech by Sukrti Thapa, a third semester BBA students. Program Coordinators continued their speech briefly highlighting on the scope and opportunity of their respective programs. That was followed by offering Tika and Khada to the new students. Everyone wished for their better future. As the keynote speaker the college principal motivated them for their serious and sincere effort for accelerating their academic excellence. He also assured them that the college will provide every possible cooperation and support for achieving their goal. The formal event, which was hosted by Academic Coordinator, was followed by cultural activities — dance, music, performance and more. It was the performance made by the third semester students. Snacks and lunch were also served during the event. In their smart attires, the students present at the event looked beautiful and dashing.

Farewell Program to 2013 Batch Students

The annual LA GRANDEE Farewell Program took place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2018, at City Square Banquet, New Road, Pokhara. This year’s graduating class was comprised of one hundred forty students of BCA, BBA and BPH 2013 Batch.

The Keynote Speech was delivered by College Chairperson Devraj Chalise who highlighted the importance of being entrepreneurs. Program Coordinators also spoke at the ceremony, hosted by the Academic Coordinator, where they discussed the importance of being a service organization. That was followed by handover of token of love to the recent graduates. Everyone wished for their better future. The graduation address was delivered by Kiran K C, principal of the college. “We certainly were challenged with the difficult task of getting to know our new team members, learn their strengths and weaknesses and effectively complete a thorough analysis of the problem and strategically pull together for a better academic performance in a short amount of time. The result our team produced today more than exemplified the investment of time, money and intellect of our graduates continuously for four years of their academic journey with us.” principal said. The college presented “Dean’s List Awards” to some distinguished students and Subhechchha Bhandari and Ngawang Choeden from BPH program received “Certificate of Excellence” for their consistent outstanding performance for four years of studies. The final year students entertained the audience with different cultural shows and live band performance.

FAREWELL & WELCOME PROGRAM

A FAREWELL PROGRAM for Batch 2013 of LA GRANDEE International College is going to be organized on January 18, 2018 and followed by a WELCOME PROGRAM for Batch 2017 on January 19, 2018. College administration will organize the Farewell and Welcome program in coordination with the 7th semseter and 3rd semester students respectively.

Talk Program on IT Entrepreneurship

The 9th session of LA GRANDEE Tech-Talk was organized on September 9, 2017 at LA GRANDEE International College. A special session was conducted entitled “Talk Program on IT Entrepreneurship” and facilitated by NEHUB (Nepal Entrepreneurship HUB), which is a non-profit organization focused on organizing different sessions on concepts of entrepreneurship and startup businesses further facilitating appropriate support to viable startup businesses.

Mr. Karmath Dangol, Co-Founder of NEHUB and Mr. Amrit Man Tuladhar, CEO of Muncha.com, together addressed the whole session giving valuable insights about E-commerce eco-system, challenges involved with startups, innovation of ideas and perseverance leading to achievement. The primary focus of the session was to manifest the structure of overall IT sector of Nepal and how students/graduates can promote and contribute the IT sector of Nepal. The session was interactive and driven by example of scenarios that the presenters faced while starting their business venture along with how they dealt with problems and progressed. The session was very interactive where students along with the college principal, Er. Kiran K.C., made queries on the related issues and future possibility to work together. Around 50 students from BCA 2nd, 4th and 6th semester participated in the program.

1st NewsLetter Published

August 3, 2017

The first volume of LA GRANDEE NEWSLETTER has recently been published. The newsletter covers most of the activities of the Fall semester 2017 along with some major activities of previous references as well. The newsletter is the first of its kind at the college and will now be published regularly at least once each semester. The e-copy of the newsletter can also be downloaded from Downloads page.

A Novel Takeoff: LA GRANDEE for COMMUNITY

Every organization is part of community. But very less organizations community centric. So, as part of CSR, we are now all set with a new mission and heading with the theme “LA GRANDEE for COMMUNITY”, under which LA GRANDEE shall now be performing activities with community focus in coordination with its students. Recently, on July 24, 2017, a group of 4th semester students from BCA program (Pradip Poudel, Pradip Dhakal, Prabhu Gurung, Sanjeet Gautam, Arjun Subedi & Oskar Garbuja) conducted a 2 hours IT related training for the class 8 students of Shree Shitaladevi Community Secondary School, Shitaladevi, Pokhara Lekhnath-12. It is the community school which was ranked the 1st amongst 33000(approx.) other community schools all around the country in 2073.

Total 30 students participated in the training. Principal of LA GRANDEE first declared the formal start of the program stating the vision and reason to initiate the program. The training was then started by the BCA students (EVERSOFT group) on effective Computer Graphics Design using Adobe Photoshop CS. Students were very happy to participate in such training in which they could learn skills that are not included in their courses. Mr. Baburam Baral, Principal of Shitaladevi Secondary School, also expressed best wishes for such initiation and appreciated the concept.

Research of University of Western Australia Concluded

10 days’ Collaborative Research on Evaluation of Impact of Open Defecation Free (ODF) Program in Kaski District, Nepal recently concluded with a short presentation on Wednesday, July 19, 2017. The research was conducted by total of 20 students, ten from School of Population and Global Health, University of Western Australia in collaboration with seven students of Public Health from LA GRANDEE International College and three from Pokhara University. The field research activities formally ended on July 19 with a closing ceremony which was divided into two different sessions. In the first, Dr.Julie Saunders along with all the students from University of Western Australia, LA GRANDEE International College and Pokhara University presented their remarks focusing on the impacts of ODF Program in Kaski District. Participating Professors and Faculty raised some questions on issues related to the research project. It was concluded with the discussion that the impact of the ODF program was found effective, though some places still needed more attention and awareness campaign. The research was conducted mainly in four different areas Begnas, Sisuwa, Gagangaunda and Hyamja of Kaski district. After analysis and discussion, the first session came to the end.

The second session then began with chairing of Kiran K.C., principal and Chairman, Devraj Chalise of LA GRANDEE International College along with other distinguished guests. Addressing to the closing ceremony, Mina Shrestha, Regional Monitoring and Supervision Officer, DWSS, Nepal; Gajendra Singh Pun, Team Leader, Kanchan Nepal; and Professor Jane Heyworth, Deputy Head, School of Population and Global Health, University of Western Australia expressed their views. Students’ participation for conducting the research was highly acknowledged by offering them Participation Certificate. College chairperson Devraj Chalise and principal Kiran K.C. bid a formal farewell to the faculty and students of University of Western Australia with Letter of Appreciation and Khada. As a closing remarks, college principal extended sincere thanks and gratitude to them for conducting such a research project in collaboration with LA GRANDEE International College and further expressed appreciation to Mr. Nirmal Adhikari, Program coordinator of Kanchan Nepal who actually coordinated all the activities for the research. BPH coordinator, Manisha Chalise and other faculties of BPH department attended the program. The whole session was hosted by the Academic Coordinator Pradip Kumar Lamsal.

Blood Donation & Mini Health Exhibition

LA GRANDEE International College in coordination with Nepal Engineers’ Association, Regional Center, Pokhara, organized a Blood Donation program at the college premises. The program was initiated by NEA on the occasion of its 55th Engineer’s Day celebration and fully supported by the college. The program was coordinated by the Principal, Er. Kiran K.C., who is also the 9th Executive Committee member of NEA, Pokhara. College Principal, other Engineers along with college students, faculties and staff actively participated in the donation program. Chief guest of the program was Mr. Devraj Chalise, the chairman of the college. Total 74 units of blood was collected. The program started with a formal session at 8:00 am and blood donation was inaugurated by the Chariman by with handing over the blood bag to the 1st donor, Er. Ramesh Bastola, former president of NEA, Pokhara.

Meanwhile, students of BPH program organized a Mini Health Exhibition relating to the blood donation and general health issues on the same day. Around 30 students were involved as volunteers for the blood donation program and exhibition. BPH program coordinator, faculty Ms. Kalpana Jnawali and students’ of IDEAS for LA GRANDEE collectively made all necessary arrangements for the exhibition. All the visitors were very curious and enthusiastic to visit all the stalls and inquire for the health issues with the students.
